Pooh Corner Meaning - Submitted February 18, 2000
Can you talk a little bit about how "More Songs from Pooh Corner" reflects where you are in your life right now?
I think that my family albums are a chronicle of my own growth as a parent. As my children grow I see new things about my parenting, myself, and my relationship with my children, and that's reflected in the new album.
The experience of watching my oldest child leave the nest was a great influence on the song Always, In All Ways. The title of the song means that my love will always be there, and it permeates all things you do. While I was working on this song in my studio, my son Crosby was literally in the next room, packing his bags to move out of the house and into the next part of his life. The song is about the sense of holding on to your child, but acknowledging the fact that this child's purpose is to leave, and that the love we give our children is what they take out into the world with them.
